|0000063||Active Directory Integration||SyncBack||public||2012-08-16 13:30||2012-11-08 16:02|
|Target Version||Fixed in Version|
|Summary||0000063: Feature: Disable Live Syncback|
|Description||We needed the ability to edit AD fields for users without the users password and without writing back to Active Directory.|
I wrote this functionality, it's called "disable live syncback" for us, and have attached a patch here incase you want to apply it for all your users.
It's not tested on a wordpress MU install, but it uses the same standards as all the other settings you're using already, so should work fine.

* activate SyncBack to get editable fields,
* add a trailing ":*" to the fields that should be editable,
* and then prevent SyncBack with your new option?
Couldn't we do something like introducing a new flag - ":+" for example - for the fields, so fields marked with ":*" are editable and synced back and those marked with ":+" are only editable?
But ... didn't the values you changed in WordPress get overwritten on every logon? I'm a little bit confused (and hope you understand what I mean).

Ha! This would explain a bug we've been unable to figure out, and assumed it was the user at fault, where the users data is changed back.
I love the idea of a + as well as a * - The non-live syncback is essential for us. I guess I'll have to disable update on logon to solve our bug!
Edit: And yes! Your 3 steps are what we did :)
